Wisdom Tooth Removal in Pinneberg – Gentle and Safe

Entfernung eines Weisheitszahns in der Klinik Pinnau unter Aufsicht eines erfahrenen Chirurgen

When wisdom teeth do not have enough space in the jaw or cause discomfort, removal is often advisable. At our clinic for oral surgery at the Pinnau, we perform this procedure regularly and with great care. Our aim is to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, from preparation through to full recovery.

When is wisdom tooth removal recommended?

Not every wisdom tooth needs to be removed. A procedure is recommended if:

  • there is not enough space in the jaw,
  • inflammation or pain develops,
  • teeth are misaligned or only partially erupt,
  • neighbouring teeth could be affected.

Timely X-ray diagnostics help detect possible complications early and prevent them effectively. This ensures lasting oral and jaw health.

Procedure: from preparation to aftercare

Before the operation, we explain every step in detail and address any questions. After an examination, local anaesthesia is administered or – if preferred – treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia. The procedure usually takes between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the position of the teeth. Afterwards, the wound is closed and cooled. You will receive clear instructions for care at home.

Swelling and pressure usually subside within a few days. After about a week, we check the healing progress and remove the stitches.

Anaesthesia and sedation options

Different anaesthesia options are available for wisdom tooth removal:

  • Local anaesthetic: the treated area is numbed precisely.
  • Sedation (twilight sleep): you remain relaxed and barely notice the procedure.
  • General anaesthetic: suitable for more extensive procedures or pronounced dental anxiety.

We advise you individually on which option suits you best and ensure that your treatment is safe and as stress-free as possible.

After the operation: tips for healing

Rest is particularly important after wisdom tooth removal. Please observe the following recommendations:

  • Cool the treated area regularly during the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid physical exertion, smoking and alcohol for several days.
  • Eat soft, lukewarm food and clean your mouth gently.

If swelling or pain persists, please arrange a follow-up appointment. We support you until full recovery.
